 A.     Wayne could not access the ASA Open Chat Room Meeting site.

B.     An illness in Larry’s family precluded his attendance.

III.       Reading of Last Meeting Minutes (Secretary)

The minutes of the last meeting had been previously approved by the BOD and posted to the website by Larry.

 IV.              Treasurer’s Report (Treasurer)

The Treasurer’s report was prepared by Wayne and issued via e-mail to the BOD.  The report was approved as written by the BOD.

 V.                 Assorted Reports

 A.    PX Status Report

Jake reported that the NASAA patches from Southern Emblem had not arrived, but should be delivered soon.  He said Wayne paid for the patches in November, 2002.  Jake will get digital pictures of the patches and forward them to Larry for posting in the PX section of he NASAA website.  Sale of the 4 inch patches can then start.  In his 12/14/2002 e-mail to the BOD, Jake said the cost of each patch from Southern Emblem is $ 1.60, plus S/H.  Jake proposed in the e-mail that each patch be sold for $ 5.00.  At this sale price, Jake explained that cash will be on hand to replenish the PX stocks without getting into membership money.              Jake’s e-mail also requested the BOD to think about buying and selling a 3 inch patch to go along with the 4 inch patch discussed above.

 B.    NASAA Website Status Report (Webmaster)

No report of status due to the absence of the Webmaster, Larry Ridgeway.

 C.    Membership Status Report (Treasurer)

 1.Bumper Sticker Designs-

(a)The topic of Bumper Sticker design has been bantered among the BOD via e-mail proposals and counterproposals over the past several days.  Jake’s e-mail sent to the BOD today, at 8:33 PM (EST), in response to all our e-mails on the subject, stressed keeping the Bumper Sticker design simple.  He proposed making ONE bumper sticker with the LFCF patch, a SECOND with the INSCOM patch, a THIRD with the BERLINER patch, and a FOURTH for those who served with the ASA in Asia prior to Vietnam, Korea, etc.  Jake also wanted further BOD consideration of his original idea that the words, NATIONAL ARMY SECURITY AGENCY ASSOCIATION, be placed to the RIGHT of each of the FOUR patch types, in RED and BLUE letters.  Jake sent us his Bumper Sticker design with these features via separate e-mail.  The BOD discussion resulted in the following highlights:

    * The BOD considered that the quantities of Bumper Stickers initially should be comprised of: 50 with the ASA patch, 50 with the INSCOM  patch, 50 with an ASIA patch.  The Sticker will cost only $ 3.00 each and sell for $ 5.00, including S & H.

*Luker questioned whether the sale price should be higher than $ 5.00

*Luker likes multiple designs because they will appeal to more members.

  (b) It was moved, seconded, and approved unanimously that we ask Military- Graphics.Com to provide 100 bumper stickers, at a price of $270.  We decided, after discussion, that we combine the ASA “LFCF” patch and the INSCOM patch.  The ASA patch to be located to the right of the words, “NATIONAL ARMY SECURITY AGENCY ASSOCIATION “ and the INSCOM patch to the left.  The bumper sticker will have a white background with “NASAA” in RED and BLUE.   This a variation of the design Jake came up with earlier in the week.

(c). Asia Patch Design-  It was agreed the ASIA Patch will consist of both FUJI and the PACON designs.  Therefore, 25 of the Asia Stickers discussed in 1 (a) above will have the FUJI patch to the left of the NASAA words and the other 25 will have the PACON patch.

(d)The BOD considered that other patches to be considered on the Bumper Sticker design could consist of : the ASA patch*,  the INSCOM patch, the BERLINER patch,  the FUJI patch, and the PACOM patch.

 2. New Design ASA Patchs- Duke noted that the only ASA* patch for sale at Hoover’s Manufacturing is the one for VIETNAM veterans only.  The Header words ARMY SECURITY AGENCY, the Claw/Lightning Bolt Logo, with the Sub header word VIETNAM  to the left of the Logo and the word VETERAN to the Right of the Logo.  As described in a 12/9/2002 e-mail to the BOD, Duke obtained Dave Hoover’s agreement to add THREE more types of ASA Patch to his catalog, for a total of FOUR patches.  The THREE news patches will be the same design as the VIETNAM-VETERAN that currently exists, with the exception that FAR EAST- VETERAN, COLD WAR- VETERAN,  and EUROPE- VETERAN will replace of  the words VIETNAM- VETERAN on the existing patch.  Dave Hoover said the pictures of the three new ASA patches will be available in February, 2003.  The membership (and the world) can order the ASA patch they desire on the Internet, or via telephone or FAX.  A decision to order or provide a web site link to order more ASA patches was tabled pending review of photographs to be published by Hoover in February,2003.

The fact that FOUR   ARMY SECURITY AGENCY (ASA) patches will be available changes item 1 (d) above for stickers.  Instead of FIVE types of patches we have EIGHT comprised of:

  VII New Business

Lon introduced the following three items of new business for BOD consideration:

  1. Plan to get INSCOM veterans more involved in NASAA
  2. Questioned status of Bonnie Cooper
  3. Plan for 2nd Annual F2F Meeting of BOD

With regard to item 1, the Chairman stated he will try to come up with suggestions on how to get INSCON more involved.  Bill said the lack of new membership lately sucks.

With regard to item 2, the Chairman said he has had no recent contact with Bonnie and has no idea concerning he whereabouts.

The Chairman charged the Vice Chairman to come up with a plan and schedule for the F2F that the BOD can’t refuse.  The Chairman likes Reno, Nevada because of its amenities and the fact that the BOD spouses will have more to interest them than Montana.  Jake can’t attend if the thing is held in June.   Others like Helena, Montana if Lon can show us how we will all be edified and entertained by a trip to Helena.  Good luck Lon.

 VIII   Meeting Adjournment

With no other items of business to discuss, as agreed by the BOD, the Chairman adjourned the chat room meeting at 10:26 PM(EST) or to put it militarily, 22:26.

 Sincerely,

 Duke Dodge, Secretary
