Some correspondence with the Brits Langeleben site, this was the British site near our site near Konigslutter in 1953.
I first recieved information and correspondence about their site last August, just prior to my purchasing my new computer. The new computer gave me problems, had a hell of a time to get it functioning properly.

Vist their site at http://www.langeleben.btinternet.co.uk

Came accross your website with the article on Konigslutter am Elm, we a British Signals Regiment where stationed at Langeleben (which is what I think you called Kinderheim) from 1951 until the camp closed down in1993. We have a Langeleben reunion society with a membership of 340, we have our reunions once a year either here in the U.K. or in Konigslutter where we still have many friends. I was stationed at Langeleben 1956/9 when we where having more fights with our American allies than we where with the locals, (great days).
We have our own website so to find out more log on to  www.langeleben.btinternet.com.uk

Dean,
Was absolutely thrilled to see that you recieved my E-Mail, itseems so long ago when I sent it andI thought that it had got lost in the firmement, I took a few guesses at your E-Mail address as I only had your Website address to go by.
I sent details of your website address to a few of our members and they where quite excited to find out that our American friends where as enthralled with Konigslutter as we where.
We have a reunion in Leicestershire over the weekend 8th/9th September, some 110 old soldiers who served in the 1950s and early 60s will be attending, all of us where stationed at Langeleben (the place you know as kinderheim) only 5 Kilometres from Konigslutter. We have six German friends coming over including the Burgermeister and Fire chief of Konigslutter, we still have many links with the town made during our 51 years love affair with the place.
Our Royal Signals regiment, (12 wireless) was doing much the same as I expect you where, keeping tabs on our Russian friends not more than 30 Kilometres away just outside Magdeberg. We found the old Russian 4th army camp last year at our last reunion in Germany, the camp was massive with a perimeter road 125 miles in circumference around, it is now being used by the German Bundeswehr.
I hope that we can carry on communicating our shared experiences with the times and the memories of service life during the "cold war".

Ernie.

Dean,

Thanks for allowing me on your mailing list, was interesting to see your photograph in your latest E-Mail,
It appears that we are all growing old gracefully.

I have been in contact with Jim Tobias and it seems that we have common aquaintances in Konigslutter, indeed I was on the phone yesterday to the German wife of an old army buddy who can remember Jims wedding to Jutta being quite an event in Konigslutter in 1955, she thinks that Jim was the first American to marry a local girl & to marry in the Kaiser Dom must have been a wonderful thrill for them both.
I understand from Major Tom Perkin that you have been in touch with him and are exchanging information.
Have you managed to see our Langeleben website yet? I would be interested to see what you thought of it.

Will be in touch again.

Ernie
